What does it mean to celebrate a birthday?
Celebrating numbers. Those numbers correspond to life lived. To experiences had. To thoughts thought, to friends made, to dreams created. I chose to celebrate all that this year in all its entirety. It was a unique experience because I was also celebrating my 30th and in the heart of Greece, Athens.
With the 3-day birthday celebration, I wanted my friends who had travelled from all around to get the most of Greece but also to connect with each other. We started with a housewarming party on Friday while early morning on Saturday we were off to Angistri island for the day! Yes, they complained about waking up early, but they forgave me a few short hours later. They saw the view, they swam in those crystal waters, their skin was a little darker. Of course, put Greeks in a room with anyone, they’ll have them dancing in a second, which is what happened. Of course it didn’t stop there. How could it with the Akropolis right next to us and a black-tie party?
Seeing my friends, old and new, my family all dancing and laughing together was so special to me – a celebration of everything this year, and every year, is what life should be about – and that it was. A celebration of all. I cannot find enough words to thank you for your unconditional love and kindness! You are my rock! To another 30!
