Last week I was invited by InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, who celebrate their 70th anniversary this year, and offered to stay at the InterContinental Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam. It was a weekend dedicated to relaxation, pampering and luxury after an exhausting fashion month!

InterContinental Amstel Hotel, also known as the Grand Old Lady of Amsterdam, has been wowing guests since it opened its doors in 1867 from Queen Elizabeth II to Michael Jackson and The Rolling Stones. From the exquisitely decorated rooms with antique furniture, brocade wallpaper and fresh tulips each day, to the outstanding reception, terraces and spa my stay there was just magnificent.  Home also to one of Amsterdam’s finest restaurants, Michelin-starred, La Rive, overlooking the Amstel river, the hotel is truly an ideal streamlined luxe break with superb dining experiences.

Honestly, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, with 182 hotels located in more than 60 countries, never fail to amaze me anywhere that I travel. Their local insight, superior yet understated service, outstanding facilities and genuine interest in all the guests set the standards for others very high. It’s not a matter of luck that they have coveted title of “World’s Leading Hotel brand” at the World Travel Awards for six consecutive years. It’s pleasant to see that their mission to connect travellers to authentic yet tailored experiences remains a core value to the group as InterContinental Hotels & Resorts evolves.
