According to Fredrikson Stallard (the design duo Patrik Fredrikson and Ian Stallard) crystals radiate power, elegance and 21st century femininity. It comes as no surprise their magical and perfectly fitting collaboration with Atelier Swarovski in the last couple of years. Thanks to the delightful Swarovski team, I visited the duo at their studio in London and discussed their partnership, inspirations and shown first-hand their stunning pieces. Their previous design collaborations with Swarovski included the dramatic ‘Prologue’ – a golden ring over four meters in diameter and inset with over 8,000 crystals to mimic the shimmering sun (seen also above), ‘Armory’, a jewelry collection with Atelier Swarovski, featured large, smoky toned crystal suspended within a metal web, at once gladiatorial and fiercely feminine and ‘Space Flower’ jewelry collection for Atelier Swarovski which used the simple contrast of sharp Swarovski crystals and soft metal domes to accentuate the beauty of the crystals and magnify the light they reflect.
For this festive season the British avant-garde designers presented ‘Glaciarium’ Fredrikson Stallard’s first collection for Atelier Swarovski Home presenting a series of home objects inspired by the naked form of untouched, raw crystal. From Glaciarium Orchid Vase, crystal and Sticks to Glaciarium Bowl, crystal and Small Vase, each piece is cast in crystal and then faceting is applied to certain sections, combining precision cutting with the material’s natural structures and surface. Staying true to the integrity of Swarovski crystal’s raw physical expression, the centrepieces are bold and bring an innate brilliance to any home surface. Christmas shopping complete! The home collection is available at Atelier Swarovski in Selfridges London where you can find plenty of gift ideas there from an array of talented designers and exclusive partnerships with Atelier Swarovski.
